Borussia Dortmund will play against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park this Friday.

This matchup promises to be thrilling, as Dortmund seeks to bounce back from a 1-1 draw with SC Freiburg. Dortmund leads the Bundesliga with seven clean sheets this season and has not lost to Gladbach in their last five encounters.

The team’s recent Bundesliga performance shows mixed results, with two wins and three draws in their last five matches.

Their latest game ended in a draw against SC Freiburg on December 14, where Ramy Bensebaini scored in the 31st minute. However, Jobe Bellingham received a red card in the 53rd minute, putting Dortmund at a disadvantage. Lucas Höler equalized for Freiburg in the 75th minute, keeping Dortmund’s unbeaten run alive but leaving the coaches disappointed over missed chances.

Additionally, Dortmund faced setbacks in their recent cup matches, losing 0-1 to Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal and drawing 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League last week.

Borussia Dortmund team news

Dortmund is dealing with several injuries before the weekend match. Jobe Bellingham is suspended for two games due to his red card against Freiburg.

Coach Niko Kovač is managing multiple player absences, which include Waldemar Anton and Aaron Anselmino, who have thigh injuries. Julian Brandt (ankle) and Marcel Sabitzer (muscle issue) will also miss this match, with Brandt not expected to return before 2026.

Ramy Bensebaini is currently away on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations, while Salih Özcan is recovering from an Achilles injury, and Julian Brandt is expected to be out until mid-January at the earliest due to his ankle issue.

Possible Borussia Dortmund starting XI: Kobel; Sule, Can, Schlotterbeck; Ryerson, Gross, Nmecha, Svensson; Adeyemi, Chukwuemeka; Guirassy.

When will the match kick off?
