Bournemouth Stuns Chelsea While Manchester City Closes Gap on Arsenal Thanks to Rayan Cherki

On Saturday, the 4 PM game lineup featured several exciting matches in the Premier League, crucial for the race for European spots. Manchester City faced a surprising Sunderland team and needed a win to close the gap to two points behind Arsenal, who had just lost to Aston Villa earlier in the day (2-1). When Rayan Cherki plays, Manchester City usually excels. The former OL star had a standout performance, contributing significantly to his team’s victory. He assisted Ruben Dias, who scored from a long-range shot, and shortly after, Josko Gvardiol added another goal from a corner, making it 2-0 by the 35th minute. In the second half, Cherki continued to shine, providing a fantastic cross that led to Phil Foden’s goal, ensuring a 3-0 win. City’s victory allows them to reclaim second place, just two points behind Arsenal.

Premier League Standings

In the battle for the top spots, Chelsea is struggling. After losing to Leeds last week, they failed to make an impact against Bournemouth, despite having plenty of ball possession. Bournemouth almost scored within the first four minutes, with Antoine Semenyo having a goal disallowed for offside. Chelsea remained uninspired, and though Garnacho hit the post in the second half, the game ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving Chelsea in fourth place, now six points behind City. At home, Tottenham secured a win against Brentford with a goal from Richarlison in the 25th minute, followed by Xavi Simons finally scoring just before halftime with a stunning solo effort (2-0, 43rd minute). This victory places Tottenham in eighth, level on points with Newcastle, who won 2-1 against Burnley, thanks to a brilliant corner from Bruno Guimaraes. Lastly, Everton triumphed at home against Nottingham Forest, with Thierno Barry scoring his first goal for the Toffees in a 3-0 win.
