Brighton achieved a surprising home win against Manchester City in the Premier League‘s third round.
The first half ended 1-0, with Erling Haaland scoring for City. However, in the second half, the Seagulls flipped the game around with goals from Milner and Gruda.
Notably, former England player Milner scored his first goal for Brighton and his first in the Premier League since December 26, 2019. He also became the oldest player to score a penalty in Premier League history, doing so at 39 years and 239 days old. The goalkeeper he scored against, James Trafford, was born just a month before Milner made his Premier League debut in 2002.
Before the current season kicked off, Milner extended his contract with Brighton until the end of the campaign.
