Mikel Arteta provided an update on Bukayo Saka after his absence in Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.

The winger was initially set to start the match but had to withdraw during the warm-up.

The 24-year-old left the field with some discomfort and was replaced in the lineup by Noni Madueke.

Despite Saka’s absence, Arsenal performed strongly, with Madueke assisting Martin Zubimendi for the first goal. A corner from Madueke was misplayed by Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow, adding another goal. Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus scored in the second half to finish the match.

“[Madueke] was ready, because you can’t make that impact in just two minutes,” Arteta noted. “His preparation and eagerness for opportunities showed today, making a significant impact.”

“We anticipated a challenging match, requiring everyone to perform their roles effectively, and the players executed that exceptionally well.”
