This is just the beginning.
A large compensation claim could significantly impact Everton’s finances.
Details: According to the Daily Mail, a legal dispute is emerging between Burnley and Everton.
The court proceedings concerning Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League in the 2021–22 season are scheduled to start this week.
This development comes nearly two years after Everton received a significant points deduction for violating the Premier League’s financial fair play regulations.
Burnley claims that Everton’s punishment was unfair, arguing that if Everton had been penalized the full 10 points instead of just 6, Burnley would have remained in the Premier League and Everton would have been relegated to the Championship. Instead, the opposite occurred.
In February 2023, Everton’s appeal led to their penalty being reduced from 10 points to 6. However, in April 2024, the club faced another deduction of 2 points for breaching spending rules again for the 2022-2023 season.
Reminder: For the first time ever, Grealish has been named Premier League Player of the Month.
