Super League Kerala: Calicut and Kannur Score a Goal Each in 1-1 Draw

Kozhikode: The Amul presents Sports.com Super League Kerala saw another draw. In a match that featured a red card and two goals, Calicut FC and Kannur Warriors FC played out a 1-1 tie. The game was held at the EMS Stadium.

Mohammed Arshaf scored for Calicut, while Eciyar Gomez netted the goal for Kannur. Mohammed Asif of Calicut was sent off with a red card during the first half. Following this result, Kannur stands in first place with eight points from four matches, and Calicut is in fourth place with five points.

The action-packed first half saw Calicut’s Mohammed Asif get a yellow card in just the fifth minute. In the 28th minute, Calicut took the lead. U-23 player Mohammed Arshaf scored from a corner, making the score 1-0. However, Kannur equalized in the 38th minute through a goal from Eciyar Gomez, assisted by Adrian Sardinero, leveling the score at 1-1. Just before halftime, Asif received a second yellow card for a handball and was sent off, reducing Calicut to ten players.

In the second half, 10-man Calicut made a defensive substitution. In the 55th minute, Calicut’s Jonathan Pereira received a yellow card. Both teams made changes, with Kannur bringing on Sinan, Arshad, and Karim Samb, while Calicut introduced Ashique. In the 76th minute, Calicut’s Federico Hernan Bozo nearly scored, but his shot hit the crossbar. The match was attended by 16,089 spectators.

The next match of the fourth round will be held on October 31, with Forza Kochi FC facing Thrissur Magic FC. The kickoff is at 7:30 PM at Maharajas College Stadium.
