Thrissur: Calicut FC defeated Thrissur Magic FC with a solitary goal in the Sports.com Super League Kerala, an event organized by Amul. The decisive goal in the seventh-round match at the Corporation Stadium was scored by Federico Buaso. With this victory, Calicut FC has climbed to the top of the league table with 14 points from seven games. Thrissur is now in second place with 13 points.
Calicut came close to scoring in the fifteenth minute. A pass from Federico Buaso was directed towards the goal by Muhammed Roshan, but Thrissur’s experienced goalkeeper, Laxmikant Kattimani, made a key save. Soon after, Kattimani also stopped a high ball from Calicut’s Ajsal. Although Calicut controlled the first half, no goals were scored.
The breakthrough came late in the second half. In the 86th minute, substitute Shahabas Ahmed delivered a cross from the right wing, which Argentine player Federico Buaso headed into the net, securing the 1-0 win. Earlier in the half, both teams brought on substitutes, with Prashanth coming on for Calicut and Faisal Ali and Francis Ado for Thrissur. During the match, Calicut’s Ashique received a yellow card for a foul on Bibin Ajayan. This result reverses the outcome of their first meeting in Kozhikode, where Thrissur had won by one goal. The match was attended by 10,580 spectators.
On Wednesday, November 19, the final match of the seventh round will see Kannur Warriors FC take on Malappuram FC. The match will kick off at 7:30 PM at the Kannur Jawahar Stadium.
