Substitute Jorgen Strand Larsen scored two quick goals as Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated West Ham United 3-2 to move into the League Cup third round on Tuesday.

Leeds United and Sunderland also exited the tournament, losing on penalties to Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town, respectively.

Strand Larsen, who came on in the 73rd minute, made a significant impact, netting in the 82nd and 84th minutes after Lucas Paqueta had put West Ham ahead in the 63rd minute.

Wolves’ first goal of the season was scored by Rodrigo Gomes just before halftime, following a rebound from Hwang Hee-chan’s penalty. Tomas Soucek equalized for West Ham in the 50th minute.

This matchup featured the bottom two teams in the Premier League, adding pressure on West Ham manager Graham Potter, as his team previously suffered losses to Chelsea and Sunderland.

Leeds lost 3-0 in the penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday, a game boycotted by some fans protesting the club’s ownership.

U.S. goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was outstanding, saving twice during the shootout in his debut and being celebrated by his teammates.

In another match, Huddersfield won their penalty shootout 6-5 after a 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

Brentford secured a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in the evening’s other Premier League clash, with goals from Fabio Carvalho and Igor Thiago.

Burnley, making several changes from their last match, edged out Derby County 2-1, with Oliver Sonne scoring a late winner.

Wrexham, owned by Hollywood figures, triumphed 3-2 against Preston North End thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Kieffer Moore.

In a surprise, League Two’s Cambridge United defeated Championship side Charlton Athletic 3-1.

The draw for the third round will occur following Wednesday’s matches.
