Carles Aleñá, who trained at FC Barcelona, played only 44 matches for the Catalan club and currently plays for Alavés after a stint with Getafe from 2021 to 2025. In an interview with Sport, the 27-year-old midfielder reflected on his time at Barça: “Leaving the club wasn’t easy, as I had spent my entire life there. However, when you feel you don’t fit and no matter what you do, you can never align with their plans, it takes courage to move on and find a place where you feel important and appreciated.”
“I’m not sure what I was missing. Consistency is probably the hardest thing to achieve. Despite everything, I had some good matches. There was a time with Valverde when, after the first championship match in Bilbao, I started and was substituted at halftime. Following that, I didn’t get picked for four months. I think that affected me mentally and psychologically because I didn’t see it coming. That’s when I decided to join Betis. I lacked the patience and calm needed to turn things around. I wanted to leave too quickly. These are mistakes, decisions made when you’re young, as you’re eager to play and eager to conquer the world,” added the Mataró native.
