Carlos Alcaraz has announced the end of his professional relationship with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero after more than seven years. This marks the conclusion of a highly successful partnership in modern tennis.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Alcaraz thanked Ferrero, known as Juanki, for guiding him from his childhood dreams to elite tennis success.

“It’s very difficult for me to write this post..After more than seven years together, Juanki and I have decided to end our stage together as coach and player,” Alcaraz said. “Thank you for turning a child’s dreams into realities.”

The partnership began when Alcaraz was a teenager, long before he gained recognition on the ATP Tour.

A Partnership That Shaped a Champion

Ferrero, a former World No. 1 and 2003 French Open champion, helped Alcaraz evolve into a well-rounded and exciting player. Their success stemmed from strategic growth, physical training, patience, and trust.

Alcaraz emphasized that the timing of this decision is intentional, coming at a peak moment rather than from any frustrations.

“We have managed to reach the top, and I feel that, if our sporting paths had to separate, it should be from up there–from the place we always worked toward,” he explained.

Seven Years of Shared Success

The Alcaraz–Ferrero duo achieved remarkable success, with Alcaraz going from a promising junior to a global star. He won several Grand Slam titles, reached the top of the ATP rankings, and continuously competed at the highest levels.

Ferrero’s coaching helped Alcaraz develop versatility, tactical intelligence, and mental toughness. These skills allowed him to excel on various surfaces and against different styles of play, making him a standout player of his era.

Looking Ahead

Alcaraz ended his message by expressing hope for the future, acknowledging that change brings new opportunities.

“Times of change are coming for both of us, new adventures and new projects… I am certain we will tackle them the right way, giving the best of ourselves, as we have always done.”

He closed with sincere gratitude: “I wish you the very best from the heart in everything to come.. Thank you for everything, Juanki!”
