Michael Carrick praised the determination of his Manchester United team after Benjamin Sesko scored a stoppage-time goal, securing a draw against West Ham.

Manchester United are now unbeaten in five league games under Carrick but needed a 96th-minute goal from Sesko to earn a point at the London Stadium.

After four wins in a row, the team struggled against West Ham and fell behind when Tomas Soucek scored for the home side.

Casemiro had a goal ruled out for offside, and Joshua Zirkzee missed a good chance as United pushed for an equalizer. The goal finally came deep into stoppage time when substitute Sesko finished from a Bryan Mbeumo cross.

Despite the late equalizer, Carrick felt the team didn’t perform at their best. He noted that Manchester United has consistently scored in the last 15 minutes of matches during his five games in charge, which he sees as a positive aspect moving forward.

“We were okay. I think we’re a bit disappointed. We definitely weren’t at our best. We’ve had five games now, and we’ve been at a really good level,” Carrick said in interviews.

“It’s a tough place to play. They made it hard for us, and we didn’t always find the sharpness needed to get back into the game. But credit to the players for their spirit to score late when it was crucial. It’s a valuable quality to have, and we’ll take the point and move forward.”

“That spirit encourages you to score late goals, knowing you can do it. It’s good to have that experience. Hopefully, we can secure results earlier in future games.”
