Casemiro has announced he will leave Manchester United when his contract ends at the close of the season.

The club has chosen not to extend the Brazilian midfielder’s contract, marking the end of his four-year stay as they aim to rebuild their midfield. Casemiro, who will turn 34 next month, is expected to be replaced in the summer.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” Casemiro stated.

“From my first day at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the connection I now have with our supporters for this special club. It’s not the time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create in the next four months.”

“We still have much to achieve together; my full focus will remain on helping our club succeed.”

Since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid for around £70 million, Casemiro has played 146 matches. He has won the EFL Cup and FA Cup during Erik ten Hag’s coaching period and continues to be a key player this season. However, the club is looking to reduce his £350,000-per-week salary.
