Champions League: Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick, Borussia Dortmund’s Nightmare

The first part of the Champions League quarter-finals is coming soon. One of the matches is between FC Barcelona, who are one of the teams who could win the competition, and Borussia Dortmund. The first match will take place at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Thursday (10/04) at 12.30 am IST.

Barcelona has the statistical edge. Barcelona has never lost a European match against Dortmund, with three wins and two draws. They also met in the league phase this season, with Barcelona winning 3-2.

Dortmund are not as good, but two of their players, Karim Adeyemi and Pascal Gross, think they have a chance of beating Barcelona.

“I’m sure we’ll come back with a positive result there,” Adeyemi told Barca Universal. “There’s nothing more exciting than a challenge like this. It’s going to be tough, but we can win,” Gross said confidently.

Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick

Dortmund are hopeful, but Barcelona have people who know German football well working for them. As well as Marc-André ter Stegen, Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick are a real problem for Dortmund.

While coaching Bayern Munich and now with Barcelona, Hansi Flick has won all six games against Dortmund, achieving a perfect 100% record. His teams have scored at least three goals in a game (18 goals in total).

And that’s just the statistics from the German coach! And don’t forget Lewandowski, who played in Germany for 12 years (2010-2014) with Dortmund and (2014-2022) with Bayern Munich.

At 36 years old, Lewandowski is in top form and is the team’s top scorer this season. In his career, the Poland captain has faced Dortmund 27 times and has also scored the same number of goals, more than when he faced any other team.

He has won 20 games, had one draw and only lost six games.

Dortmund’s coach, Niko Kovac, worked with Flick before, and he is sure his team will try their best against Barcelona.

“We are on the right path and we have to stay focused. I am sure the players will give everything against Barcelona,” Kovac said.
