The race for the Champions League’s top scorer for the 2025-26 season is intensifying.
Kylian Mbappe leads the pack with 13 goals in just eight matches for Real Madrid. This season, he scores approximately every 55 minutes and is close to breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 17 goals in a single season from 2013-14. However, he will not play tonight against Benfica due to a knee injury.
The nearest challengers to Mbappe are Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane. Gordon, playing for Newcastle, has scored 10 goals in the Champions League this season. Notably, he netted four goals in one half against Qarabag during the play-off round.

Gordon has now become Newcastle’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League, surpassing Alan Shearer’s record of 7 goals. Interestingly, he has only managed three goals in the Premier League this season.
