The third round of the Champions League will be remembered for the 43 goals scored across 9 matches in just one night, averaging 4.8 goals per game, according to Opta. This sets a new record for the competition.

The match between Bayer and PSG, which ended 7-2, contributed significantly to this total, along with the PSV vs. Napoli game (6-2) and the Barcelona vs. Olympiakos match (6-1). The only match that ended in a draw was between Kairat Almaty and Paphos, which finished 0-0. The previous record was 40 goals scored in 8 matches on October 21, 2014.
