According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea has made initial inquiries about the left winger’s availability. While the club has downplayed their interest, they are taking steps to pursue the player, even as Manchester City and Manchester United currently seem to be leading the race for Semenyo.

This comes after Jamie Gittens was removed from the squad for the match against Newcastle, having faced difficulties in recent months. As a result, Alejandro Garnacho remains the only starting left-wing option available. Semenyo has been described as an “immediate upgrade” for top clubs, including Tottenham.

The Ghanaian player has had an impressive season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 16 league matches—almost one contribution per game as we approach the season’s midway point.

Beyond his scoring ability, Semenyo also excels defensively, ranking highly for tackles, blocks, clearances, and aerial duels won among his peers in Europe’s top leagues. He is outperforming his expected goals (xG), with an actual non-penalty goals per 90 minutes of 0.34, compared to an xG of 0.24.

However, his overall statistics show a lack of assists and shot-creating actions, and his passing and dribbling skills are average for a winger. There is potential for improvement in a more established team setup.
