Chelsea has received a boost with Liam Delap fit to play against Newcastle in the Premier League this weekend.
Enzo Maresca’s team will travel to St James’ Park for the match on Saturday afternoon.
Both clubs enter this game after reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup earlier this week. Chelsea’s positive news continues with Delap and midfielder Dario Essugo likely returning to the squad.
“We are good. The players who were left out for Cardiff are okay,” Maresca stated in his pre-match press conference.
“Liam Delap and Dario Essugo are probably available for Aston Villa, while Romeo [Lavia] and Levi [Colwill] remain sidelined.”
“Since Delap’s injury, we have been unsure of the duration, but he is making good progress.”
Chelsea will look to improve their recent record in the North East, having last won at St James’ Park in October 2021. Maresca expects a tough match ahead.
“For me, it’s always difficult. Whether day or night, they are a very good team. Their manager has done a great job over the years.”
“Sandro Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Miley are all excellent players. They work well together, are strong physically, and skilled on the ball. They are a complete team, which makes them challenging for any opponent.”
