Liam Rosenior says Chelsea must be “more ruthless” after they dropped points at home against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Joao Pedro scored early for Chelsea, but they were unable to extend their lead, which proved to be a mistake. The match changed when Wesley Fofana was sent off for a second yellow card in the 72nd minute.
Burnley equalized when James Ward-Prowse’s corner found Zian Flemming, who headed the ball into the net.

“We should have won the game,” Rosenior told BBC Sport. “We needed to be more ruthless. The first half lacked penetration, and while we had moments in the second half, we lacked the final pass or finish.”
He continued: “Top teams finish off their opponents. If you aren’t ruthless, you need to maintain a clean sheet, and we haven’t done that enough.”
“The four points we have lost in our last two games shouldn’t have happened. We should win this match, and that’s something I need to fix quickly.”
Chelsea has received six cards in the Premier League this season, the highest in the league. This total rises to eight when including the dismissals of former manager Enzo Maresca against Liverpool in October and Joao Pedro against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League the previous month.
Regarding his team’s disciplinary issues, Rosenior said: “I can only comment on my time with the group so far. Up to now, our disciplinary record has been good. It’s something I need to address, but I thought today’s red card was unfortunate. Still, we need to manage the game better.”
