Chelsea thrashed AC Milan 4-1 in a pre-season friendly at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea beat AC Milan 4-1 in a friendly match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening (10 August).

The Blues dominated the match, capitalising on their numerical advantage after AC Milan lost a player in the first half.

Chelsea attacked from the outset. Just five minutes into the match, Milan debutant Andrei Coubis scored an own goal after mistiming a Reece James free kick.

Three minutes later, João Pedro doubled the home side’s lead with a header from Pedro Neto’s precise cross.

Disaster struck for AC Milan in the 18^(th) minute. Andrei Conti was shown a straight red card by the referee for fouling João Pedro in an aerial duel.

Milan struggled to contain Chelsea’s onslaught while playing with 10 men, although the score remained 2-0 at half-time.

In the second half, Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the 67^(th) minute when Estevao was fouled in the penalty area.

Liam Delap successfully beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan to score from the spot.

Three minutes later, AC Milan reduced the deficit through Youssouf Fofana, who capitalised on Alexis Saelemaekers’ through ball to make it 3–1.
