Chile vs Argentina Results: Chile’s women’s team loss to Argentina 3-0 in a friendly.

La Florida witnessed a disappointing night for La Roja Femenina as they suffered a decisive 3-0 defeat against Argentina in their first friendly match of the year.

A crowd of nearly 3,000 fans packed the Bicentenario de La Florida stadium, eager to support their national team. However, Luis Mena’s side struggled to find their rhythm against a clinical Argentine team.

The match, intended as a celebration of Camila Sáez’s 100th cap for La Roja Femenina, and a tribute to the ailing under-17 player Natsumy Millones, turned sour for the home side.

Chile started the game brightly, controlling possession and creating early opportunities. Rosario Balmaeda and María José Urrutia both threatened the Argentine goal within the first 20 minutes, but failed to capitalize. Despite this early pressure, Argentina proved more efficient. Maricel Pereyra broke the deadlock, putting Argentina ahead with a well-taken goal.

Just before halftime, Sofía Domínguez nearly equalized, striking the right post. This near-miss prompted Luis Mena to make changes at the break, introducing Sonya Keefe and Nayadet López in an attempt to revitalize the team.

However, Argentina extended their lead in the second half. Yamila Rodríguez doubled their advantage in the 54th minute, and Agostina Holzheier sealed the victory with a third goal, leaving La Roja Femenina reeling.

The 3-0 scoreline paints a stark picture of Argentina’s dominance. Despite Chile’s initial efforts, they lacked the cutting edge needed to convert their chances. Argentina, on the other hand, displayed clinical finishing and capitalized on defensive lapses.

Looking ahead, La Roja Femenina will have a chance to redeem themselves in the second friendly match against Argentina. This rematch will take place behind closed doors at Juan Pinto Durán on Tuesday, February 25. The team will undoubtedly seek to analyze their performance and make necessary adjustments to secure a better result. Fans will be eager to see if La Roja Femenina can bounce back and demonstrate their true potential.
