The former footballer noted that the team seems too satisfied with just avoiding losses instead of pushing for wins.

Details: In an interview with Metro, former Arsenal defender Gaël Clichy expressed his views on the team’s current situation and head coach, Mikel Arteta. The Frenchman, who played 264 matches for the club, feels that Arsenal has lost some of the football identity it had under Arsène Wenger, and he thinks both the club and the coach have room for improvement in their ambitions.

Clichy specifically mentioned the recent match against Liverpool, where Arsenal lost due to a penalty by Dominik Szoboszlai ten minutes before the end.

“In that match against Liverpool, you can see a team that isn’t focused on winning, but just content with not losing. That’s a subtle but significant difference for a team aiming for the title,” Clichy highlighted. He believes Arteta should adopt a more ambitious approach, especially when facing tough opponents.

Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match will be against Nottingham Forest, who recently changed their head coach and currently sit 10th in the standings. According to the former defender, these matches are crucial for the manager to showcase the team’s progress and title aspirations.
