The Belgian club has made a clear decision.
The 20-year-old winger will miss his national team’s U-20 World Cup match.
Details: According to Unplayable, Shandre Campbell, a winger for South Africa’s U-20 team and Club Brugge, was not included in the squad for the match against France as Brugge did not allow him to participate.
Senior national team coach Hugo Broos attempted to resolve the issue, but Brugge remained firm and did not permit the player to leave.
The reasons behind Club Brugge’s choice to retain the player have not been disclosed.
Campbell joined Brugge this winter from NXT and has made 4 appearances, scoring once.
His contract with the club extends until 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at 1 million euros.
The first U-20 World Cup match against France is just 11 days away.
Reminder: South Africa faces challenges. FIFA has initiated a case against the federation concerning the Lesotho match.
