Cole Palmer acknowledges he is not fully fit after leading Chelsea to a 3-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
The midfielder scored three goals in the first half, making him the first player to achieve a hat-trick in the opening period of a Premier League match on three occasions.
Tolu Arokodare scored for Wolves in the second half, but Chelsea secured the win, maintaining their position in fifth place in the league.
Palmer comments on fitness following Chelsea’s win over Wolves
Palmer, who has started only 12 league matches this season, has had limited playtime due to groin issues and a broken toe. The 23-year-old is optimistic about overcoming these challenges soon.
“It felt good to score and help the team win,” he told BBC Match of the Day after the game.
“I don’t think I’m 100 per cent fit yet. People might not know what happens behind the scenes, but being injured for most of the season isn’t great. I hope to manage my injury and get back to my best soon.”
“Not being fully fit isn’t ideal, but I still feel I can contribute to the team. Once I’m fully fit, I believe I can reach another level.”
