The Israel national football team risks being banned from international tournaments organized by UEFA, potentially missing out on the qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

This situation has emerged amidst rising tensions in Gaza, where there are ongoing reports of civilian casualties. According to Israel Hayom, UEFA is set to vote on Tuesday, September 23, to determine whether Israel will be excluded from international events.

Sources indicate that a significant majority of the 20 voting members favor Israel’s removal. Additionally, reports suggest that Qatar is actively influencing UEFA, advocating for Israel’s exclusion from European football.

Analysts are comparing this situation to Russia’s, warning that Israel might face a similar outcome in football. Tensions worsened when Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez proposed a boycott of the 2026 World Cup by Spain if Israel continues its participation in the qualification process.
