Cristiano Ronaldo continues to seek his first trophy with Al Nassr. Since joining the Saudi club in late 2022, he has yet to win any silverware, and his latest opportunity faded away in the Saudi Super Cup final.

Al Nassr was close to clinching the Saudi Super Cup against Al Ahli, with Ronaldo scoring first from the penalty spot. However, the match ended in a 2–2 draw, and Al Ahli secured the title with a 5–3 victory in the shootout.

Looking forward, Al Nassr will quickly shift focus to their Saudi Pro League opener at home against Al Taawoun FC on Friday, August 29. Ahead of the match, Ronaldo shared a message for Al Nassr fans on Instagram.

Tomorrow, the league begins. We’ve trained. We’re ready. But we can’t do it alone… we need you. We’ll be putting in our all. Fighting for the badge, for the team, for each one of you. Will you be with us every step of the way? Let’s make it unforgettable,” Ronaldo wrote.

Cristiano Ronaldo could lose an important teammate

Reports indicate that Cristiano Ronaldo might lose a key defensive player ahead of the new season. Spanish center back Aymeric Laporte, a Champions League winner with Manchester City, is expected to return to Athletic Club in LaLiga.

Al Nassr reportedly anticipated this scenario with Laporte—who also attracted interest from Olympique Marseille—and strengthened their defense by signing Iñigo Martinez from Barcelona.

Sources in Saudi Arabia suggest that Al Nassr is not done in the transfer market, targeting another attacking player to support Cristiano Ronaldo.

Olympique Marseille’s Mason Greenwood is identified as the top target by manager Jorge Jesus, which would enhance an already star-studded frontline featuring Ronaldo, Joao Felix, Sadio Mane, and Kingsley Coman.
