Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 800 career club goals: How many does Lionel Messi need to tie the Al Nassr star?

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo reached 800 club goals. Here’s how his numbers compare to Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by reaching 800 club goals, after he scored in Al Nassr’s 3-2 defeat against Al Fateh in their last match of the season. With the Portuguese star reaching another milestone in his career, we take a look at Lionel Messi’s club goals so far.

The Argentinian has scored 749 goals at club level so far, meaning that he is 51 goals away from Ronaldo’s numbers. For Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 20 goals in the year, while Messi has scored 11 goals for Inter Miami so far.

Ronaldo’s 800 goals are distributed between Sporting (5 goals), Manchester United (145), Real Madrid (450), Juventus (101) and Al Nassr (99). Meanwhile, Messi’s goals are distributed between Barcelona (672 goals), PSG (32) and Inter Miami (45).

When it comes to their international goals, Ronaldo also has a slight advantage of 136 goals over Messi’s 112 goals. In general, Ronaldo has reached 936 goals, while Messi is 41 goals away from 900.

What’s next for Messi and Ronaldo?

Al Nassr finished their season trophyless, after being eliminated from the AFC Champions League semifinals and finishing fourth in the Saudi Pro League. With that result, the team won’t be playing Champions next season, which has added to the speculation over Ronaldo’s future. His contract expires on June 30, and he left a cryptic social media message.

Meanwhile, Messi is in the middle of the MLS campaign with Inter Miami, which are going through a slump after also failing to reach the Concacaf Champions Cup back in April. In the league, The Herons are seventh in the Eastern Conference with 23 points, seven away from leaders Philadelphia.

However, Javier Mascherano’s team is set to compete in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in June. They will open the tournament in their stadium against Al Ahly FC, and the team will try to recover their best form ahead of their debut.
