Cruz Azul is reportedly close to finalizing new contracts for two of its players, Erik Lira and Amaury Morales. According to a report from ESPN, the club is expected to announce these deals soon. This move follows the recent contract extensions for Carlos Rodríguez and Lorenzo Faravelli, as the team works to secure key Mexican players for its future.

The new agreements are expected to be for three to four years, keeping the players with the club until 2028 or 2029. These contracts will include pay raises and different release clauses depending on the interested market. The buyout clause for other Liga MX clubs will reportedly be set at approximately $10 million. However, the clause for European clubs would be lower to make a potential transfer to a European league easier.

For Erik Lira, the new deal is seen as a way to stay competitive as he aims for a spot on Mexico’s 2026 FIFA World Cup team before potentially moving to Europe. Amaury Morales is currently preparing for the upcoming U-20 World Cup in Chile. A strong performance in that tournament could attract attention from clubs outside of Mexico.

The club is confident that both players will sign their new contracts shortly. This is part of Cruz Azul’s strategy to build a team with both experienced players and young local talent. The goal is to maintain success in Liga MX while also preparing for a bigger presence on the international stage.
