David Beckham has a deep connection with Manchester United, rising through the ranks at Carrington to become one of its most famous players.
Sir Alex Ferguson showed interest in him while he was with Tottenham Hotspur, eventually leading Beckham to join Manchester United, marking the start of a significant career.
The London native made 394 appearances for Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid in 2003.
During his time there, he scored 85 goals and provided 122 assists.
Even years after leaving Old Trafford, Beckham still holds Manchester United close to his heart and is now a co-owner of Inter Miami.
Inter Miami is reportedly interested in signing Casemiro, and Beckham’s team has made an initial proposal for the Brazilian player, who is expected to leave soon.
Beckham is also paying attention to his former teammate, Michael Carrick, who took over from Ruben Amorim on an interim basis in January 2026. There are discussions about whether Carrick should be appointed permanently due to his successful performance.
Beckham believes Carrick is the right choice for the role. In an interview with talkSPORT, he expressed his contentment with recent team progress, saying, “The last few months have been much easier than the last 10 years.”
He mentioned that Carrick possesses calmness and an elegant presence on the pitch, whether in celebratory or challenging moments, which makes him a suitable leader.
Having played alongside Carrick ten times for the England national team, Beckham noted that Carrick’s ability to unite the team is key to his suitability for a long-term position.
“These qualities are essential for a manager,” Beckham stated, highlighting Carrick’s success in bringing the team together, which he believes is crucial for fans.
Carrick’s impressive record includes only one loss during his second stint in charge—a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United. He has led the team to third place in the Premier League with seven matches left in the season.
The main goal for Carrick is to secure a Champions League spot for the following season, which would cement his status as a club hero.
It remains to be seen if Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS-led group will choose to make Carrick the permanent manager, but Beckham has shown his support for him.
