The New York Cosmos have named Davide Corti as their new head coach as they prepare for their 2026 season in USL League One. According to CBS Sports Golazo, the 53-year-old Italian becomes the ninth manager in the club’s history, as the team makes its third return to professional soccer, with games planned at Hinchliffe Stadium.

Corti has agreed to a multi-year contract after coaching in Italy’s women’s Serie A, where he managed AC Milan Women and UC Sampdoria Women. His only previous experience with a men’s senior team was in the mid-2000s with AS Ostia Mare Lido Calcio in Serie D. Corti began his career in AC Milan’s youth system, made one appearance in the Coppa Italia, and spent much of his playing time in Serie C before retiring in 2005.

After retiring, he worked for 12 years in Milan’s academy and technical staff before relocating to New Jersey. There, he was the technical director at Cedar Stars Academy and collaborated with New Jersey Rush, both key youth development organizations. He returned to Italy in 2021 to take on coaching roles with senior teams.

While his recent performance in Serie A Femminile was mixed—AC Milan avoided relegation during his tenure and Sampdoria was eventually relegated—his background in youth development aligns with the Cosmos’ current goals. Under CEO Erik Stover and Head of Soccer Giuseppe Rossi, the club is moving from star-driven player acquisition to focusing on homegrown talent, adopting a structure similar to European clubs.
