Ruben Amorim’s focus on long-term planning at Manchester United emphasizes bringing in young talent that can develop within the club.

In July, the club signed Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno, one of South America’s top defensive prospects, shortly after he turned 18.

United reportedly paid around £3.5–4 million, with additional performance-related fees reflecting León’s potential.

Leon is a natural left-footer who primarily plays as a left-back but can also move higher up the pitch, contributing to both defense and attack with his speed and energy.

Since his arrival in Manchester, Leon has been gradually introduced to the club’s setup, consistently playing for the U21s, where he has made eight appearances this season.

Although he hasn’t debuted for the senior team yet, he has been included in four first-team matchday squads, indicating his involvement in the club’s future plans.

With competition for full-back positions and limited time on the senior team, there were discussions about a potential loan move to aid his development.

Recently, clarity has emerged about León’s immediate future, as confirmed by his representatives.

Diego León will stay at Manchester United for the remainder of the season, putting an end to speculation about a loan move.

Agent Renato Bittar stated that discussions with the club confirmed there would be no loan in January, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.

“We’re always in touch with the club, and Diego Leon will stay at United for the entire season; he’s not going anywhere,” Renato said.

He believes that staying in Manchester is the best option for León at this point in his career, noting, “He’s playing for the U21s and alternating as a substitute for the first team.”
