Tottenham’s goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has publicly supported his fellow Italian teammate Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is facing a tough situation at his club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Donnarumma, the star of Italy’s Euro 2020 win, is currently sidelined by PSG after talks to renew his contract failed. The French club has reportedly removed him from the main team, forcing him to train alone.
This signals that the club no longer plans to use him. PSG has also signed a new goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, to take his place.
In a show of support, Vicario, who is Donnarumma’s backup goalkeeper for the Italian national team, spoke out.
“I’m very sad about the situation he’s in,” Vicario said. “He is my captain in the national team, and I have an excellent relationship with him.”
Vicario’s words show that Donnarumma has the backing of his national teammates during this difficult period.
“I wish him the best to find the most suitable solution for him,” Vicario added, expressing hope for his friend’s future.
While Donnarumma’s future at PSG seems uncertain, the support from a fellow professional like Vicario highlights the strong bond between the players. The football world is now watching to see what happens next for the star goalkeeper.
