Corinthians are preparing for the Copa do Brasil quarterfinal second leg against Athletico-PR. According to Itatiaia, head coach Dorival Júnior is thinking about starting academy player Gui Negão instead of Memphis Depay for Wednesday night’s match at Neo Química Arena.
This choice is based on tactical and physical factors. Depay returned late from international duty, where he played on Sunday for the Netherlands and scored twice against Lithuania, making him the country’s all-time top scorer. He participated in only one training session with Corinthians before the match. Gui Negão, on the other hand, has shown strong performances recently and might team up with Yuri Alberto, who is returning after hernia surgery.
Yuri Alberto, the team’s top scorer, is back after missing four matches. His return is a significant boost for Corinthians, who hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Curitiba.
