Trouble is brewing.
Recently, American right-wing politician Charlie Kirk was shot dead. Supporting a controversial figure like Kirk can lead to significant consequences.
Details: Borussia Dortmund player Felix Nmecha expressed his condolences following Kirk’s death. Initially, he stated, “Rest with God. Such a sad day,” but later revised it to, “May the Lord grant the Kirk family special grace in this time. Jesus is the true way to peace and love.”
Nmecha clarified that his intention was solely to express sympathy and highlighted that violence is never the answer. The club, however, did not view his gesture positively. At this time, there is no news about any disciplinary measures against him.
Nevertheless, Borussia plans to have internal discussions and consult with the player. According to BILD, Nmecha’s contract includes a provision for fines regarding posts that “contradict the club’s values.”
Reminder: Previously, Borussia renewed the contract of head coach Niko Kovac.
