The Houston Dynamo has signed Brazilian defender Lucas Halter as of Monday.

The 25-year-old joins from Botafogo and has a contract running until 2029-30, with an option for 2030-31.

Halter will take up an international roster spot in Houston. He has scored 17 goals in 219 matches in Brazil since 2019.

During his time at Botafogo, Halter was part of the team that won the Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores in 2024. He also served as captain for Vitoria while on loan in 2025.

Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad stated, “Lucas arrives as a proven winner and respected leader, having anchored title-winning teams at top clubs in South America. He has shown the ability to strengthen a defense and bring the leadership we need in Houston.”
