Eagles Take Narrow Victory Over Lesotho in Tough World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory against Lesotho in their 2026 World Cup African Qualifiers Group C match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, on Friday.

After a scoreless first half, the Super Eagles took the lead in the 55th minute when captain William Troost-Ekong successfully converted a penalty. They increased their lead in the 80th minute when debutant Akor Adams scored during his first senior appearance.

Lesotho didn’t give up easily. Hlompho Kalake narrowed the gap with a goal in the 83rd minute, creating a tense finish. However, Nigeria managed to hold on and secure all three points.
