East Bengal secured a place in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) Super Six stage after defeating Kalighat Milan Sangha Football Club 3-1 on Friday at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium.

The team took the lead in the 25th minute with a goal from David Lalhlansanga, ending the first half ahead by one.

Guite Vanlalpeka and Shyamal Besra added two more goals for East Bengal, ensuring a solid victory.

East Bengal finished the group stage at the top of Group A, amassing 23 points with seven wins in 11 matches.

Meanwhile, their arch-rival, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, is in a tough spot, sitting sixth with 19 points and two matches remaining. Suruchi Sangha is in third place with 19 points but only one game left.

Only the top three teams from each group will move on to the Super Six stage.
