A possible new format.
In the Championship, clubs have the opportunity to compete for promotion to the Premier League. Two teams earn automatic promotion, while others vie for the remaining spot, but changes may be coming.
Details: Currently, teams finishing third to sixth enter the play-offs for the last promotion place. However, Sky Sports reports that the EFL is considering expanding the play-off zone to include the seventh and eighth positions.
This would allow six teams to compete for the third promotion spot. The change could happen if most clubs support the proposal in an upcoming meeting.
This season’s Premier League includes three clubs promoted from last season: Burnley, Leeds, and Sunderland.
Reminder: Ryan Reynolds’ club is finalizing the signing of Ipswich Town winger Nathan Broadhead, which will set a new transfer record for Wrexham. The Welsh team is set to pay £10 million for the 27-year-old.
