Law and order! Eindhoven police detain 230 Napoli fans ahead of Champions League match
Dutch law regarding public order is very strict.
Napoli missed the presence of 230 fans at their match.
Details: Before the start of the Champions League group stage match between PSV from the Netherlands and Napoli from Italy, police in Eindhoven detained 234 fans, with 230 being Napoli supporters.
The reason given for the detentions was provocative behavior that caused public disorder in the area.
The detained fans, including four PSV supporters, received fines and were banned from the city center for 24 hours.
This meant Napoli had 230 fewer fans at the match, which they lost 6-2.
Interestingly, PSV fans have a connection with supporters of Napoli’s rival, Inter Milan, while Napoli fans are linked with Feyenoord, who are significant opponents of PSV.
Reminder: Napoli’s defeat ties with the lowest ever for Italian clubs in the Champions League.
