Unai Emery stated that discussing a title challenge for Aston Villa at this point in the season is not sensible.

The team is currently on a record 11-game winning streak across all competitions, including eight consecutive wins in the Premier League. Villa sit third in the league standings, just three points behind leaders Arsenal, whom they will face tomorrow evening.

Despite their impressive form, Emery emphasized that it is premature to consider Aston Villa as title challengers, noting that the club has not claimed the top flight title since 1981. He mentioned that there is still a lot of football to be played before his team can be viewed as real contenders.

“Two years ago, we finished the first half of the season with 39 points. Right now, we also have 39 points, and you are asking the same question. Just two years ago, we had 39 points after 19 games and ended up finishing fourth in the Champions League spots.

“That was great, but for me, talking about the title right now doesn’t make sense. It’s December now, and that’s my view.

“Sure, we are motivated, but for now, our focus is on the upcoming match.

“There’s just three points between us and them, which motivates us. If we start thinking about the end of the season today, we might miss out on enjoying the journey.”
