Iga Świątek is searching for a new coach after ending her partnership with Wim Fissette earlier this week.
Even though she won the 2025 Wimbledon Ladies Singles title with his help, there are discussions that Iga may have not gained much in the year and a half they worked together.
She has struggled with her performance this year and is looking to improve on clay in the upcoming months.
Swiatek has not secured any titles this season, apart from the United Cup, and referred to her early exit at the Miami Open, where she lost to Magda Linette, as her “worst nightmare.”
Mark Petchey, coach of Emma Raducanu, commented on Swiatek’s decision to part ways with Fissette:

“I don’t think it was a huge shock,” Petchey said on the Big T podcast. “I had heard after Australia that they might part ways.
“For me, the main issue was her serve. There were technical changes, but it seemed more mechanical, and she struggled to generate pace on her second serve. When your serve isn’t working, it affects the whole game, making you feel pressured right from the start.
“Wim is a great coach, but sometimes a change can go wrong, despite good intentions.”
Iga Swiatek’s season so far in 2026
In 2026, Swiatek has played eight tournaments. She reached the final at Indian Wells but lost to Naomi Osaka, who is having a strong comeback after maternity leave. She also made it to the quarterfinals at both Adelaide International 1 and WTA Dubai, and the fourth round at Abu Dhabi and Brisbane International 1.
Where Fissette could be headed next
Fissette is an experienced coach who has worked with top players in women’s tennis. He gained prominence with Kim Clijsters, helping her win three Grand Slam titles during their time together. He has also coached Angelique Kerber and Naomi Osaka, further enhancing his reputation.
The most talked-about coaching position currently available is with Carlos Alcaraz, who recently parted ways with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. However, Fissette has never coached on the ATP Tour, making this move seem unlikely.
