This season has been challenging for Chelsea player Cole Palmer. He was seen as a top contender for the Ballon d’Or after leading his team to victory in the Club World Cup against PSG, where he was named the best player.
However, injuries have limited his playtime, allowing him to start just five Premier League matches and one Champions League match. Despite this, he has managed to score three goals from his midfield position.
Palmer has been dealing with ongoing groin issues and a broken toe in recent months. Fortunately, he has made a recovery and is now getting regular playing time for Chelsea.
Since returning at the start of the month, he has started the last three Premier League matches, including scoring in a 2-0 victory over Everton.
Palmer has yet to play a full 90 minutes, as Chelsea is cautious about his health, given their need for him in the race for a top-four finish.
Before Chelsea’s important match against Aston Villa, coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that Palmer is ready to play the full match.
Maresca stated, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, “Yes, Cole Palmer is now finally ready to play full 90 minutes.”
Chelsea is currently in fourth place in the Premier League, trailing Villa in third by seven points but tied with Liverpool at 29 points. Palmer’s fitness will be crucial for Chelsea moving forward, as the title race remains competitive.
