Last night, Olympique de Marseille suffered their third defeat in four Champions League matches. They lost to Atalanta (0-1), and while the team led by Roberto De Zerbi may argue about a controversial unawarded penalty, the media criticized their overall poor performance. Eric Di Meco pointed out that a key player was missing from the field: Adrien Rabiot.
“Those who played might not be at the required level. (…) From last season, there aren’t many players worth keeping. If there’s one player to retain, it’s Rabiot, and you build a stronger team around him. Yes, there was a contractual issue with him, but how much will that matter if you fail to advance from the group stage?” he stated in an interview with RMC Sport.
