Brest continues to struggle after a 1-0 defeat against Le Havre on Wednesday night. This loss puts them in 14th place in Ligue 1, tied with the relegation spot. Coach Eric Roy expressed his frustration during the press conference, stating, “We are lacking too many things right now. We’re struggling in duels and with ball possession… There’s so much waste from everyone! Many players are not performing at their level.” He acknowledged that the team’s performance was disappointing, adding, “This match could have ended 0-0, but we lost on a corner due to a duel we lost. The team’s morale is affected. If we want to win matches, we need to be much better.”
The Brest coach also highlighted attitude issues among players, reminding them of the reality of the league: “Those who think we are better than Le Havre need to come back to reality.” Roy pointed out that the days of European euphoria are over: “This is our league. We have shown that we are not better than Le Havre. I’ve been saying since the start of the season: our goal is to leave three teams behind us.” Concerned, Roy hopes for a collective realization: “We cannot say there is real progress. The performance is not sufficient. We need to understand that we are facing our limits.”
