Erling Haaland Reveals Exciting Plans for His Future in Football

Before the Champions League clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid, Erling Haaland spoke on the podcast The Rest Is Football about various aspects of his career and daily life, including why he never wears gloves despite the cold. “I like the classic style, you know. My dad would hit me if I did,” he said, adding more seriously about his arrival at City: “Guardiola called me. It was a nice conversation. He told me I could score many goals with him. When Guardiola called, I didn’t hesitate. When I arrived at City, they needed a striker. It also motivated me to show that Pep’s team can be direct, not just pass the ball around.”

When asked about players who show anger when leaving the pitch, he stated: “The last thing I would do is show that I’m angry. When I scored five goals against Leipzig, of course I wanted a sixth, but it would be disrespectful.” As is common in long interviews, the Norwegian striker also addressed his future, which he sees lasting at City. “I’m calm, focused, and really happy here, so it’s a great place for me to develop. England is a football country, and I think it’s the best place to play. I want to be part of that,” he emphasized, praising his coach: “He’s kind of a genius, but what surprised me is his hard work. He works harder than anyone. He’s the first to arrive and the last to leave. That’s dedication, motivation, and an intense way of seeing football.”
