Estevão Keeps Impressing Under Carlo Ancelotti’s Leadership

Brazil appears to have discovered a new talent. Already qualified for the next World Cup, the Seleção secured a 2-0 victory over Senegal in a friendly match at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. While the game had no significant stakes, it showcased the rising talent of Estevão, who was positioned on the right wing by Carlo Ancelotti. Alongside Matheus Cunha, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo Goes, the Chelsea winger demonstrated that he possesses both the personality and skills to thrive in a competitive offensive lineup. This performance continues his strong form at Chelsea, where he has scored in three of his last six matches.

Though not everything was perfect, Estevão emerged as a key player in Brazil’s attack. His speed and explosiveness troubled the Senegalese defense, particularly Ismaïl Jakobs. He opened the scoring for Brazil with a stunning left-footed strike that was unstoppable for Édouard Mendy. This goal brought his total to four for the national team under Carlo Ancelotti, making him the top scorer for Brazil since the Italian took over in May.

Following the win, Carlo Ancelotti spoke highly of his young protégé, praising his exceptional talent. “Estevão has an incredible amount of talent. It’s surprising to see this level at his age. He has a knack for scoring, a lot of ‘magic’… and he works very hard. I can tell you: with Estevão, Brazil has a bright future,” the coach stated in a press conference, expressing admiration for the former Palmeiras player. In contrast, Estevão showed humility and gratitude. “I’m very happy; I believe this is good not just for me but for everyone. It’s beneficial for the team to have quality players in various positions. I’m putting in a lot of effort here at the club… I love being here. Representing the national team means everything to me. The competition is healthy; it teaches me to stay grounded and to keep working hard. I try to learn everything I can from him. He has won many titles, and his journey is very impressive. I aim to use his guidance to improve in football,” he shared with Footem.in before thanking Ancelotti.

“I’m grateful that God has placed me in his path. He’s a fantastic coach and an incredible person. He talks to me daily, teaches me, and gives me advice. He’s been a huge help. After the match, he embraced me and congratulated me, I think (laughs). A hug feels like a congratulations.” As Rodrygo and Vinícius continue to have ups and downs in the national team, Estevão seems to elevate his game with every appearance, emerging as a refreshing addition to Ancelotti’s Seleção.
