Estêvão’s Unstoppable Rise: A Journey of Success and Influence

Estêvão has emerged as the standout performer during the November international matches. Recently called up to the Brazil squad for friendly matches against Senegal (2-0) and Tunisia (1-1), he validated the selection made by coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Chelsea star was active and scored against Senegal, marking his proficiency with 4 goals and 1 assist in 16 appearances this season. On Tuesday, he started on the right flank against Tunisia and delivered another impressive performance.

Casemiro was another highlight for Brazil, showcasing his influence in midfield. Estêvão’s efforts helped secure a valuable equalizer by confidently converting a penalty just before halftime (1-1, 44′). This marked his 5th goal in 11 appearances for Brazil. The 18-year-old from Franca generated excitement throughout the match, particularly with a near miss off the post during a late personal effort (90’+5). His stats included 1 goal, 69 touches, 2 key passes, 5 shots (2 on target), 8 duels won, and 3 recoveries.

Estêvão is winning everyone over

His performance was notably different from that of teammate Vinicius Jr., who struggled on the left wing. Many fans pointed out the disparity between their contributions, with Vinicius scoring 8 goals in 44 matches compared to Estêvão’s 5 in his last 6 appearances for Brazil. Having been named man of the match in his first five starts for the national team, Estêvão almost had a chance to increase his tally had Carlo Ancelotti not opted for Lucas Paqueta to take a second penalty, which he ultimately missed.

“Paquetá is the designated penalty taker. When the second penalty came, I decided to relieve some of the pressure on Estêvão; Paquetá usually takes them very well,” explained the coach after the game. However, Estêvão seemed ready to step up, stating, “I really wanted to take the penalty, but the order was given, and I passed it to my teammate.” Regardless, with another strong performance, Estêvão has likely secured his spot on the flight to the USA in June. For now, he will aim to continue his impressive form in London.
