Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior described Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Everton in the Premier League as his “most disappointing” match since taking over.

The team struggled at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Beto scored twice and Iliman Ndiaye added another to secure a resounding win for Everton under David Moyes.

This defeat marks Chelsea’s fourth consecutive loss, narrowing their lead over Everton to just two points in the standings.

Everton hands Chelsea their ‘most disappointing’ defeat

“This was the most disappointing evening in terms of the things we’ve talked about, like not giving away goals and maintaining control of the game,” Rosenior said during the post-match press conference.

“That control wasn’t there, and it turned into a tough night where the result and performance fell short of our expectations.”

While Chelsea appeared sluggish throughout the game, Rosenior maintained that his players are still putting in the effort.

“I don’t think there’s a lack of effort, belief, or determination in the team,” he stated. “I’m aware that a run of defeats can lead to those criticisms, but that’s not the main issue right now.”

This result follows their 3-0 loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League midweek, which Rosenior believes affected their performance.

“I don’t want to make excuses; that performance simply wasn’t good enough. The past week overall has been disappointing. If you consider the players’ workload and the number of games played, it’s an understandable conclusion.”
