James Garner praised the team’s ‘amazing performance’ after Everton secured a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.
David Moyes’s team surprised many by defeating the high-flying Aston Villa at Villa Park, thanks to a second-half goal from Thierno Barry. The French forward scored with a well-placed shot into the far corner after Emi Martinez could not hold a shot from Dwight McNeil.
Everton managed to hold on for a tough win, controlling only 36% of the possession against an Aston Villa side that had won their last 11 games at home.
Jordan Pickford made a crucial save to maintain Everton’s lead, successfully stopping a shot from Morgan Rogers that seemed destined for the top corner.

This victory helped Everton bounce back from recent struggles, including disappointing results against Brentford and Wolves, as well as an FA Cup elimination by Sunderland.
“They’re a very good team with many talented players. The lads worked hard today. We seized our opportunity,” said Everton midfielder James Garner to Sky Sports.
“We focused on stopping what they do well in the middle. We aimed to block the passing lanes and push them wide. We waited for our moment.
“We were going through a tough phase. We needed to turn things around. Winning away from home is hopefully the start of that.
“I believe it was an amazing performance from the lads.”
