Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talks about managing Manchester United

In an interview with BBC Sport, Solskjaer expressed his thoughts on managing Manchester United and the significant pressure involved.

“I felt privileged to be the manager of Man United, but it’s not the same as being a player. As a player, you just focus on your role. Now as a manager, you represent everyone,” he said.

He added, “You think about all the supporters, the players, and everything related to Man United. This pressure is a privilege because I was given the chance to handle it my way.”

During his time as manager from 2018 to 2021, Solskjaer led United to a second-place finish in the Premier League and reached the Europa League final, but poor results eventually led to his exit.

His tenure remains a topic of discussion, as he stabilized the team after a turbulent period but fell short of winning trophies.

Despite everything, he still values the role and its challenges. Those close to him believe Solskjaer sees his time at the club as unfinished business, viewing it as a foundation rather than a failure.

Solskjaer has openly shared how much he learned during his first time in charge, believing the pressure motivates him.

“I felt privileged to be the manager of Man United, but it’s not the same as being a player. As a player, you just do your job. Suddenly now you’re the manager, you’re the face of everyone,” he reiterated.

“You think about the supporters, players, and everything that comes with Man United. But that pressure is a privilege because I was allowed to deal with it my way,” Solskjaer said.

Even though he hasn’t managed since leaving Old Trafford, Solskjaer has stayed involved in football through mentoring and analysis, keeping track of United’s progress under new managers.

It remains uncertain if the club will consider bringing him back. United is looking for long-term candidates following Amorim’s departure, and several names are under discussion.

Solskjaer’s emotional connection to the club and his interest in returning make him a notable figure in discussions among fans and analysts.
