A common transition for ex-Premier League players.
At the end of July, former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy left Swiss club Zurich after playing only eight matches. He is now set to begin a new chapter in his career.
Details: Reports from Fabrizio Romano and Meczyki indicate that Mendy will join Poland’s Pogoń Szczecin. The English champion is expected to sign a two-year contract with the club. The agreement is in place, and official confirmation may arrive today.
Reminder: Mendy was let go by Zurich after hosting a party following a heavy defeat to Basel. He received another chance to improve his behavior but was unable to change his nightlife habits, leading to the club’s decision.
In a similar move, former Chelsea midfielder Lucas Piazon has also moved to Poland, although he is playing for First League team Wieczysta Krakow, not in the top division.
